Roger Smith exhibits and speaks at the GREAT Festival of Creativity supporting first Royal visit for 30 years

Roger has just returned from Shanghai where he represented the best of British creativity, technology and innovation at the GREAT Festival of Creativity.The delegation, which was led by HRH Prince William also represented the first official Royal visit to China since 1986.Roger was joined by Nicholas Wolfe and, on 2 March displayed two iconic pieces from the Roger W Smith studio – the GREAT Britain and an Open Dial.

The GREAT Britain formed part of the GREAT Creations exhibition, which also included special creations from McLaren and photographer David Bailey’s portraits of the Queen. Roger met senior delegates from China, while Nicholas demonstrated some of the hand-finishing techniques involved in making Roger W Smith watches.

Also on display was some special film footage, including a Chinese version of the short film about the creation of the GREAT Britain watch and also a unique excerpt from the documentary feature film “The Watchmaker’s Apprentice”, which is on wide release internationally from 8 June this year.

On 4 March, Roger joined a high profile panel discussion themed “The Bespoke Revolution”. Hosted by Dylan Jones of GQ, the panel comprised leading figures in the British and Chinese luxury sectors who discussed and predicted trends in the luxury sector.

The GREAT Britain watch remains in China as a centre piece of a further showcase of Britain’s finest luxury products, which is being hosted in Suzhou between 23 March and 5 May.
